BRAUN CORPORATION ANNOUNCES NEW TAXI BRAND
“BraunTaxi” Extends Promise of Choice

Winamac, Ind. – April 26, 2012 – To better serve the needs of taxi passengers with disabilities, The Braun Corporation announced the launch of BraunTaxi, a new brand that will encompass all of its taxi products. The company will continue its dedication to raising the number of accessible vehicles in taxi fleets across the country under the BraunTaxi name.

Braun currently offers side-entry and rear-entry taxi solutions for the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan, as well as a rear-entry solution for the Toyota Sienna. In an effort to continue broadening its accessible taxi options, Braun recently announced its role as the mobility provider for the upcoming Nissan NV200 Taxi of Tomorrow. BraunTaxi will integrate a mobility solution for the NV200, which is set to premier on the streets of New York City by October 2013.

“We are excited to have partnered with the world leader in automotive mobility products,” said Joe Castelli, Vice President of Commercial Vehicles and Fleet for Nissan North America. “Drawing on Braun’s innovation and experience in the mobility industry, we will work together to develop, engineer and produce a creative solution for a wheelchair-accessible taxi in New York.”

As further proof of the company’s long history of safety and innovation, the company’s Toyota Sienna taxi became one of only three approved 2012 accessible models in New York City this March. In addition, the company announced it had several accessible taxis that are in use in the city with over 250,000 miles on the odometer, evidence of the product’s durability.

“Leading the mobility industry for 40 years has given us the critical experience required to design and manufacture mobility solutions that work,” said Braun President Nick Gutwein. “Under the BraunTaxi name, we will continue to find a way for taxi passengers, drivers and medallion owners to have the safe, accessible and reliable transportation they deserve.”

As part of the introduction of the new BraunTaxi brand, the company will participate in the upcoming New York Metro Abilities Expo in Edison, NJ from May 4-6. The Abilities Expo provides people with disabilities as well as their families and caretakers, with the opportunity to learn about the thousands of mobility, technology and service options available to them. The BraunTaxi booth will include an accessible Toyota Sienna taxi as well as digital images of the company’s other taxi solutions. About The Braun Corporation

The Braun Corporation is the largest manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vans, ramps, and wheelchair lifts worldwide and enables people with physical disabilities to regain mobility and lead active and independent lives. The company was founded by Ralph Braun, who was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at a young age and unable to walk by age 15. Ralph was motivated by his disability to invent the world’s first electric scooter and wheelchair lift in his parents’ garage. Word spread and demand for the product increased, resulting in the birth of Save-A-Step Manufacturing, which ultimately became The Braun Corporation. The company offers the most diverse line of vehicle platforms in the industry, including the most popular minivan models from Dodge/Chrysler, Honda, and Toyota and the new Taxi of Tomorrow.
